Just got back from seeing the movie. WOW!

The costuming was great, the scenery and sets were incredible. As was the music. There were some really well done sequences and speeches such as the one she gave before the army. The special effects were good too, and not overdone.

No massed armies/battle scenes which was a nice change for a historical epic. Just the massed ships. I thought the end of the storm/naval battle was well particularly well done.

I can't say much on the historical accuracy as it's not an area I'm overly familiar with however, but I don't think it was too far off.

Now I've got to find the first Elizabeth movie and see that.

I also found out today that there's a movie of The Dark Is Rising by Susan Cooper. I remember liking those books a lot, although it's been years since I read them. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see that one as well.

Just finished watching the movie (it was on PBS last night and I taped it). Wow! I'm having trouble finding the words to describe it, except that unlike most movies, it wasn't geared to any particular age group.

My only complaint is that they didn't caption enough of the chants and other non-english speeches.

Still, the filming was incredible.

I saw Gladiator last night for the first time. Wow. While I know that the events weren't historically accurate, I think they did a great job with the sets and other details. Now to watch the special features on the DVD.
