The game is set up so that every correct click in the game will donate ten grains of rice to food programs at the United Nations for the hungry. Ten grains isn't much but the rounds progress quickly and if enough people play, the numbers build up. Apparently in about a month they've donated a billion grains.

The method of the game is multiple choice and the goal is to choose the correct definition for a word. Some are pretty simple, but a lot are difficult.

This is just sad. I've been seeing a lot of articles about replacing the seven wonders of the world lately. So far, the articles all sound as though it's a foregone conclusion. What's more, it looks like the one surviving wonder might not even make the new list.

One of the articles is this one: http://www.news.com.au/travel/story/0,23483,21766842-27977,00.html.

I'm watching part of the BBC vesion of Romeo and Juliet, and it's rather odd. One of the actors is Michael Horden, who I'm more familiar with as the BBC Radio play version of Gandalf. Hearing his voice, with some of the lines being identical just doesn't seem right somehow.

What a surprise. I was watching the TV at midnight last night and discovered that the World Cup was being shown on TV. At that point it was showing Dressage. The last time I got to see good dressage was when I was in England in 1996 and the Olympics were on. They never show it around here, even during the Olympics unfortunately.

'Tis the season for fresh fruit. That makes it the best time of year. Fresh fruit and ice cream or other tasty treat. The fruit's always the best at the beginning of the season too.

I've never heard of this before. I was in a store and in the line up to buy an item with cash in hand. The cashier said they couldn't take cash or debit card, only credit, which I didn't have with me.

Does anyone know the significance of the number 16? It's used at least three times in the Alliterative Morte Arthur.

Please pass this on. Apparently the US government plans to cut funding to all Public Broadcasting radio and TV by a large amount, putting these stations at risk. The bad news is here.

Given that I rarely watch anything but PBS, I find this very worrying.

I wish the people who come up with the assembly instructions for anything actually had to try and follow their instructions.

Case in point: the chair I bought yesterday.

The instructions were all pictures, but what they didn't make clear was the tiny arrows engraved on the underside of the seat and the mechanism of the chair. And those weren't immedately noticable either. Ended up having to go back to step one twice to get the thing put together correctly.

Of course, being up till after 1 am probably didn't help either. LOL

You know, lately blogs have been getting a lot of media time around here. A two page article in today's paper, and earlier this week a section on a talk show. Is this a trend elsewhere?

The moon's about half out of the shadow now. It was really amazing the last fifteen minutes of the moon going into the shadow. Instead of the normal flat appearance, it was so very clear that the moon is really a sphere.

CBC is doing a series on who Canadians figure to be the top ten people in Canada since it became a country. I can't believe that Don Cherry is even on the list, let alone at number 4.

I just discovered that the Google PageRank for my site is 2/10 (3 for the splash page). However, I also found out a couple of ways to help improve my site's standings. Here's hoping I manage to get more hits to my site soon.

Been looking at the photos from mars on the T.V. lately. They're pretty spectacular, and it's amazing that humans have been able to land vehicles on another planet.
